Esau and his family, Me. Well lets begin:
Of Memories
Memories often disappear over time. Every generation passes there memories to the youth of the nation. But we must never forget them since if we do we lose a piece of ourselves. Though at times we may forget there is one person who never forgets, that is the lord god. Esau is in his room burning more cedar to bless himself through the name of the Lord. It is difficult living as a Christian as it has been during the beginnings of Christ and still is to this day. Many temptations fill him daily.
Being a pious man he prays and honors his creator, The Great Spirit, Diyin God, Yahweh, and the many names he is. As he prays and worships demonic memories fill him. Some of them not his own, but memories of his ancestors before him. In his homeland he would be called a Jesus freak and a Holy Roller. Around here he might be called crazy for his continuing amount of prayer. Esau lives in a world that could destroy him at any moment. For now he praises his lord and savior Jesus for he believed he was saved by him.
As he finishes he spreads the smoke around him and allows it to float to the ceiling and above. With a pray as a message. Now the entire room smells of Cedar a very comforting scent. His father taught him how to do things that must be done. Now he goes toward his weapon rack. Since joining the young Guardians a friend has given him a notable upgrade, a vastly modernized firearm compliments of Warbuster. It includes picatinny rails, with laser sights, side flashlight, and a Saiga Shotgun attachment. Looking at it Esau even sees an inscription there written in Navajo, “Ado anonel' bi ca'ha'oh bil bikoh go'ya c'ehi'sah nidih bedahadzi'ti do bik'e sil hoye' dah dolel: nih sil yias' ei'bahh; ado ni tsihal' in'-dah ni gis ei'di beh haosnih'.” Translated roughly in Navajo from Psalm 23:4 as written in the KJV “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
As he puts the ammo in the magazines he thinks, ‘Wonder why they want to talk to me today? I guess it’s to test a machine or something.’ Esau leaves his room with a K100 Grand Power pistol and enters one of the scientific research areas of the Guardians. He sees a kind face Aria, a motherly face American Mom, and a serious face, Phyrefrost. Aria turns away and starts up a machine, “Good all the Young Guardians are in this room.” Phyrefrost then yells in a drill sergeant like manner, “Listen up LADIES!!! Today we will be scanning your memories for all of us to get to know each other. With this machine it will show your memories as if it were a movie. Now then be respectful and don’t eat any popcorn these are the memories of your comrades!!!” In the background a small young boy named Stupendous takes a bit from a bag of popcorn. Phyrefrost sees this infraction and sighs, “Well you can eat but don’t be too loud!! God dang it!!!”
With a chuckle Hnekalkal brought various drinks along with her. Phyreforst then sighs, “Guess shouldn’t expect too much….” American Mom chuckles slightly, “relax Maddie it’s going to be alright. The kids need to have some fun.” As they choose from a hat Aria smiles, “Esau you are the first subject come and sit down.” Esau responds with a sigh, “Fine” He walks toward Aria and sits down. Esau then puts on the device for it to choose randomly selective memories. As it starts Esau starts to doze to sleep as the machine begins to work. Stupendous is awed as he sees as the screen is turned on. They look into the screen and they see a desert environment. Two small twin boys are shown both looking around sucking their pacifiers. Three people are there. One seems to be a man looking through a US army book; he seems to be a Native American. He has very long hair that is tied back and a Metallica shirt. With a smile he says, “Well seems I have another mission statement.” A large man with a scar across his face replies, “Yes you do Jericho. Luckily I will be the commanding of it so you might be alright.” Jericho looks at the General and laughs, “Got it Uncle Daniel, trust me I do.”
They both talk even more, and then a small woman goes toward the two small babies and picks them up both at one time. She has a small amount of curly hair; her face seems to resemble a Native Americans face with a bit of Filipino features in it. The small woman smiles as she says with a smile, “Hello Sweet Pea and Pooky Bear.” From the background Daniel seems to chuckle and says, “My God Esau and Jacob are already so big!” Daniel then has a hardy laugh, “It’s not hard to believe the legendary heroes Incognito and Ultra Nurse can have such two adorable children.” With that the memory fades as the women of the crowd say, “Aww….” Sarah Greywolf a visitor and girlfriend take a picture or two, “This is going to be good in our together corner.”
Then it changes to a place in the past. To the legendary Wild West, Stupendous being the youngest and most youthful of the group smiles childishly, “Wooh!! Look at that I bet it will be like the movies.” Other heroes like Wild Rose simply state as she drinks her Coca Cola, “Well maybe it will be some sort of adventure or romance story.” Though republicat goofily states, “See kids you are going to see second amendment in action.” As they watch they see a small home which seems to be a Hogan. It then changes to the next scene to see a young man from Esau’s ancestral line come to past look at several children in Navajo baby bundles. He was speaking in Navajo conveniently they came with an English language captions on the screen. The Young man had a sad look of dread in his eyes. He would say put what seems to be separate letters for all of them.
A name appears on the screen to say the name of the memories person, ‘Ashkii Nadleehee.’ All the Young Guardians look at the name in shock and surprise. But the leaders of the Young Guardians show concern but won’t let it out yet. A man who killed every major metahuman in the late 19th century and Just recently a man with the same name ravaged the entire Guardian compound and crucified many of the Guardians themselves including Polygirl herself. They would think that a man like him could only be an evil heartless man who would only kill, steal and destroy. Not be a man with an actual human heart. Looking at them he can only say to the small children, “I am going to leave now….Isaiah, Noah, Thomas, Rachael, and Daniel…… I really don’t know when I am going to be back…… I wanted to tell you all something I really need to say. I love you all and I always will. This is not a goodbye though I will be back you will see.”
Ashkii seems to have a tender smile and a hastily dresses Navajo woman named the Meek One or what she is known by the Whites, Sara looks at Ashkii, “So you are leaving me aren’t you?” Ashkii then looks at Sara and sighs, “I am sorry but I must. The Bilagaana are after me.” Sara has a slightly angered face, “So you wait after our time together to tell me this? What the hell did you do this time?” Ashkii sighs, “Nothing that is the problem. They are after me, you know they killed Tseso (Ashkii’s first wife), White Tailed Woman (Ashkii’s apache wife), and even my oldest son Israel. I don’t want anything to happen to you Meek One!!!” Sara’s eyes seem to flare up a bit, “normally I would be quiet Ashkii but I can’t now!!! Do you think they care that you are trying to live a good life? NO they don’t!!! They are going to always make you run away and when are you running are you going to leave us here?! Look at yourself you are a great warrior yet you let these men keep defining your life?!!! Is it because you done something to them that they would never forgive? So what did you do?”
Ashkii then looks at her, “Fight against the whites in the Little Bighorn and finished the 21st Calvary Unit.” Sara only looks at Ashkii, “Yeah and you came on a White horse with your Lakota wife Wineyetu Incamna or should I say Tseso. Still it is no reason they should be after you. Ashkii you have been living peacefully for a few years maybe it’s a misunderstanding no matter how tragic it is. We can probably ask the Indian agent for help.” Ashkii then has a chuckle, “Oh you don’t even understand. He knows what is going on Meek One. I had my informants tell me that a Super Person is coming over here. If he sees that I am here he will kill all of us and say that he was doing it in self-defense.” Ashkii then looks at Sara and reluctantly says, “It is not that easy. You know what they do and they don’t care. I will be chased again Meek Woman. You and I both know that.”
Ashkii then hears someone banging the door. It is an Eastern European woman with Purple hair. She then yells, “Quick Maestro!!! Electric Gentleman is nearby!!!!” Then a sudden explosion ends the memory.
All the Young Guardians are at awe at the memory. Stupendous then says childishly, “NEATO!!! Look at that explosion!!!” Justin Storm just sighs, “Man that was a raw drama there. Almost like if they were in a good film.” As the young Guardians wait to see another memory of Esau Phyrefrost notices something odd. Two apparitions like things. One appears to be a young woman with Light Platinum blonde hair and light bluish gray eyes, then another young woman with what appears to be red hair but with the rest of her appearing like an American Indian. She seems to have a perky smile as another memory comes to the screen.
It is a scene from WW1 a young looking man seems to be looking over the top and comments, “This war demands the absolute great from all of us but does not give us our rights. What fucked up situation is that?” Another man appears he seems to be a born leader and seems to be a relative, “Well now Thomas you should have stayed at home. But like all of us men you decided to stick your extremities into the war effort. Why not try to become ambitious and go to the top of the ranks?” Thomas looks at Daniel, “Oh you are the one to talk Daniel. Besides you are a Major now what do you plan to do.”
Daniel looks at Thomas and laughs, “oh you want to know? We are going over the top. I have a feeling that the Germans don’t expect our Unit Captain. If we strike now we have less casualties and possible more prisoner Germans or perhaps dead Germans in our wake. Nonetheless Captain Thomas order the men over the top.” Thomas at this case can only take orders and he nods. Thomas then goes into the trenches and pulls out the men under his command and yells, “Time for us to go over the top!!!” Several young men appear most of them no older than 18 or 19 maybe even younger than that. All of them with scared or indifferent faces as many of them have been over the top before.
Thomas looks at all of them and in his heart he knows that many of them are going to die. He can only say to them, “Mount your bayonets men and God be with you.” As they prepare to go over the top an allied artillery barrage takes place hitting the German positions. Thomas orders his men to creep behind the bombardment so they can advance. As they go over they approach the German trench ever so carefully passing through the craters and ditches surrounding the other trench.
Eventually his unit goes over the barbed wire. Thomas sighs and orders one of his men to cut the wire. A young man rises with some barb wire cutters and is able to cut the fence but as he does machine gun fire starts. The young man is killed on the spot. Machine opens fire and Thomas yells “get down!!!!” Many more men are cut down and leave a gruesome and sobering sight of war is. The Young Guardians are terrified to see the result of the dream many young men dying in less than an honorable way. Aria looks more disturbing as an icon ‘experiences memory in dreams.’ But the memory goes on as he Thomas yells “Let’s go in!!!” As if it was a miracle that many of Thomas’ unit enters the trench despite the hail of gunfire.
But that did not end the fight. The Germans in the trench fought hard and with skill. Bayonet stabbing and shots from rifles are heard in all directions of the trench. It is not glamorous. The young heroes can’t imagine the sweat and blood being spilled in the fight. Eventually the video comes down to Thomas as he fires in the face of a German soldier. As the soldier falls his face seems to cave in around the bullet area. Thomas does not bother to stay in the area he moves on as he goes through the trench killing a few more eventually he runs out of ammo in the chamber. A German officer then spots Thomas and attacks. He grapples Thomas to the Ground. The German attempts to strangle Thomas. American Mom covers the face of Stupendous though he is a hero sometimes a kid of this age does not need to see the horrors of this war.
The battle from the past continues. Thomas flips over the German Officer and takes out the bayonet and attempts to stab the officer. The German officer then grabs the blade and tries to move it away from him. Though this is useless with a burst of strength Thomas pushes the blade through the center of the chest of the German Officer. After a little bit of struggle the German officer lays dead. Thomas then sweats a bit and looks around as the battle seems to end. His soldiers seem to have been victorious as German soldiers begin to either retreat or surrender. As he rises and grabs his rifle he senses another German soldier in the area. It is a corporal who seems to be a messenger. He aims his rifle at the soldier. The soldier only looks at Thomas. But Thomas is tired of killing and says to the corporal in German with stunning bright blue eyes, “Get out of here Kid I am tired of killing you krauts.” As he runs to the distances of the land Thomas just sits down. Looking up the sky he prays that his children would not need to see the scene he just seen himself.
As the memory ends another memory appears with a flash this time in a small child’s room. He is hiding underneath a bed scarred out of his mind. But he does not make a sound. He hears a shotgun sound below him and a thud. Eventually the child takes a look around and gets out. With a terrified looking face he appears to be Esau in a younger age. The other Young Guardians feel a foreboding feeling in the atmosphere. Almost a horror movie is there. A woman then goes through the door of his room. She says to Esau, “Hide here shiyazhe.” Looking at the woman Esau then says, “Is there a bad man coming over here Aunty?” She only nods, “Yes there is.” Esau is troubled as he curls up in a ball.
Looking through his hiding spot a man breaks through the door with his aunt neck in one hand. He looks at her with absolute rage and says, “Fucking Abrahams the whole bunch of you.” Michaels ordered your deaths and now I am going to cash it in bitch. He takes a knife and seems to want to kill his aunt. But for now he is a beast of a man, “Don’t worry sweet heart I am not going to kill you yet. You are far too pretty to kill now I want to have fun with you first then I will send you to heaven.” Esau wanted to stay very much afraid and hide underneath the bed. But a voice in his head seems to almost say, “Stop him and react now. Don’t think act.”
Esau seems to almost nod. He sneaks out of the bed rather quickly and takes out a heavy object and bashes the assassin in the back of the head eventually getting him to get off of his aunt. As he rolls back Esau takes out his loaded revolver. There he does something unthinkable fires the pistol right in the man’s head. As the man falls down a police man goes through the door, “Police!!!!!!” Eventually he hears their footsteps and goes up to Esau’s room. There Esau notices his aunt hold onto him and eventually covers his eyes from the dead man on the ground. But there is no flinching in this child’s eye…. Only a curious notion on what death looks like.
Alas the memory stops and goes to a more sports section (of course a happier memory). It seems to be a wrestling film. The young Guardians are even more at awe as they read US National High School Wrestling Championship of some sort of year. There is scores of cheering people in the background as the final match’s takes place in the Angel Falls Sports stadium itself funded by the Awesome National Professional Wrestling Association and that times Guardians. Funnily some members such as Phyrefrost and American Mom remember this moment. Silver Star as well as one of the people in the stands cheering her butt off as one of the Angel Falls High School members is in the tournament.
As the memory starts loud music starts as Esau finishes getting ready backstage for his match. A large cry is heard. With a smile in this memory he knows that he is the only participant to be in Angel Falls. He sacrificed a lot to be here. He had to defeat many things in his life to come here. He left the Communist Party (amicably of course) and realigned with the local Orthodox Church. He looks up at an aged icon of what appears to Voijslav Naadleevich-Romanov the Rebel or better known in the states as the Ravager Ashkii Nadlehee a relative of his that became an Orthodox Saint more than 100 years ago. Especially for the oppressed and the ones who rebel for God. Then he looks at the cross. He now feels he is ready he goes outside of the locker as the song ‘Welcome to Angel Falls’ as he approaches the ring were the matt is at. His coach follows him as he says to do his thing.
Eventually as he gets out of the curtain he hears the true roar of the crowd. Many carrying the banner, ‘Go Esau Abraham show what the Fall’s has to offer!!!’ another says, ‘Give the out of Towner’s a tour by your slick moves!!” Esau smiles as he nods to the crowd as he walks down the ramp. Esau knows this fact most of the enemies he fought were upper middle class or rich kids. He really was one of the few not from such backgrounds. As he takes a look around he sees a lot of his family the older ones seem rather stoic and only looks at him almost saying, ‘We expect victory’ many of them in US Army General or Officer uniforms including his grandfather’s Daniel and Thomas. The other members of his family were cheering like they were madmen.
He enters the matt and sees his opponent an intense looking person. He seems to be of the wealthy class but had none of the arrogance. In this match everyone is equal as they shake hands they have no more than the deepest respect for each other. As they begin both sides are in a wrestling staggered stance try to fake each other so the other will lose the others guard. Eventually Esau is able to get the right foot positioning and gets a single leg take down. As his opponent falls down he rolls on his stomach and gets on all fours. Esau is able to get on top on him to get 2 points.
Esau does not give this young man any more time to rest. Esau then starts to run his opponent down with a running half-nelson. It requires having his arm underneath his opponents arm. Then his hand connected to the head. He goes in a circular motion his opponents balance keeps him from going over but eventually he gives in. With a deep yell of shock Esau turns him over and he has him in a pinning position. In a few moments he gets his opponent to lie on his back on both shoulders. Esau seems to be extremely strained as he is putting all his power in just keeping his opponent down.
Eventually a huge “PAT!” is heard and Esau has pinned his opponent and won the match. He hears a large cry from the crowd as the young man just won the city of Angel Falls a High School National Championship in Amateur wrestling. As the Guardians smile at that achievement it brought a sort of closure to the memory machine.
Aria has a smile and childishly says, “Wow that is so cool!!! Can we see more?” Aria takes control of the machine and then presses the ‘Hero’ work option. Another movie appears as the early days of Testaments days. In his face he sometimes wears his face freely. He seems to be in a great mood jumping around buildings and everything else. As he rides across the buildings he sees a man in the middle of an alleyway yelling, “Please Help me!!!!” Esau reacts to this and runs toward the sound, “Looks like I have another man to help!!”
Eventually Esau runs down the alleyway and sees no one. He goes toward the sounds and it’s a sound recorder. Esau looks around and knows something is wrong with the situation. It’s quiet as the tape recording ends…. to quiet. He looks around and turns his safety off his rifle. He looks around and aims as he goes forward quietly. Then as some windows come in view Esau is shot at in a crossfire motion.
He yells, “What the heck!!?” Esau ducks and keeps moving. Esau notices how this gunfire is directed. This is trained fire almost special forces. This is a hit. Esau fires one at the direction behind him. He knows he does not hit anything but it’s a way to hit back at the enemy. But the men fire most of them only a few inches away from hitting him. As he runs the Young Guardians see in Esau’s eyes something they would never see in their near emotionless friend… fear. But he can’t worry about being curling up in a corner to die.
He wants to live see he finds cover and fires his rifle. He looks behind him and goes through a building. He finds that it is clear. He keeps on moving this time slowly and with a certain deliberation. As he comes out of the building he is fired again by the assassins again. He stays behind cover and fires again. But the firing continues until a great silence has gone. It is over Esau can feel it. As Esau looks at his watch he is surprised that only 5 minutes has passed.
With a great laugh Esau sighs, “Praise the lord…. I am alive.” He walks out cautiously. He Knows he is out of danger but you never know in the South Side. Eventually he see a room were a man is shackled yelling, “HELP!!! HELP!!!” It is the man who was yelling for someone to help him in the recording. But there is a note at his feet it is written in Spanish but translates into this in English, “Testament you are a truly challenging man but our employer has died and we no longer want you dead. Enjoy life; you are no longer an enemy to us.”
Now another memory forces its way through.
A series of memories of Esau’s parents appears through the screen. But the machine seems to start to malfunction as it starts to show more than one memory on the screen. All of them seem to be of Esau’s and his brother’s mother and father with their good memories coming together until Esau is aged thirteen. Esau and his brother look at their mother and father. Both of them are smiling. The Father Joshua or Incognito smiles at his two sons and puts his shoulder on them, “You better be good boys now and don’t annoy Grandpa Daniel now, do good in school, and keep on wrestling and winning it. Make your father proud.” Annette or Ultra Nurse, “Now you two be good to Grampa Danny alright.” She hugs the two twins, “Besides you two will always be my babies” Esau and Jacob replies, “Mom……” She only smiles as Daniel replies, “It will be alright you all got to go to your duty besides they will do well with me.” As Annette or Mom too Esau and Jacob leaves them with her husband Joshua. Esau and Jacob look at them as if it were the last time he will see them.
A few months later a choir sings for the dead in the Navajo Nation. Two heroes have died. Two young boys and a General gain two American flags. But these are not patriotic flags, since they are given in honor of the dead. As a prayer is sang before the prayer from the pastors morning for the death of the heroes of Incognito and Ultra Nurse by a Dine’ (Navajo), “Grieve for me, for I would grieve for you. Then brush away the sorrow and the tears Life is not over, but begins anew, with courage you must greet the coming years. To live forever in the past is wrong; It can only cause you misery and pain. Dwell not on memories overlong, with others you must share and care again. Reach out and comfort those who comfort you; Recall the years, but only for a while. Nurse not your loneliness; but live again. Forget not. Remember with a smile.” As he says this the Pastor begins the prayer for them to go to the lord Jesus Christ. But the General Daniel whispers to the two children “Don’t cry Esau and Jacob you don’t see me crying…. They are in a better place.” He tries to show a strong stoic face. His brothers have died and family has died so he is used to death. But it does not mean he feels it. He tries with all his power to hold back his tears so he can give Esau and Jacob strength.
As the service ends Daniel excuses himself to go to the bathroom a group of soldiers from Section 51 walk up to see the two young boys standing with the American flags. Their leader, Angus McCain, had come to pay his respects to the heroes especially Ultra Nurse…. He was the last man to see her alive. Looking at the two children he sees her and the father in them. Looking at the vulnerability he understands their mission to rescue Ultra Nurse failed. That instead she defended them. Fighting furiously not for Section 51, but for those two treasures. Angus had seen many die in combat but to see two children suddenly without a mother or father is a horrible thing to witness. He knows the Incognito or Joshua was an office worker who returned to the military. That he bravely halted a vast energy field, not for the world…. but the two treasures before him. He understood that Incognito and Ultra Nurse had marital conflicts but before they left they stopped it for them. These two brave people stopped everything and served their nation to provide a life for the two twins and sacrificed themselves for them.
From the look on his face McCain wants to say something to Esau and Jacob, to say sorry to them. But in the end all he can manage, “You have my condolences.” For all his power and strength he is unable to do anything else. But in the bathroom he hears a man starting to mourn. Some of the most powerful Generals in the country Daniel Chee Abraham is mourning he couldn’t do it in front of Esau or Jacob because he had to be strong but even the strongest man can break down. But outside Esau and Jacob are big boys now. They don’t cry and Esau hugs his younger brother Jacob and tells him “It is going to be alright.” As Esau has a tear falls from his eyes the Red, White and Blue flags of honor are still in their arms or what is ever left of the glory of the dead.
As the memory fades the world is back to normal the film like projection end with a tired Esau taking off the head wear, just looking at his young Guardians friend. As they look at Esau they really have nothing to say to the innocent but troubled man. But at the end they saw no glory in the hero work they seen Esau in a moment that could have been the end of Esau’s life if not for a death of another man. But to them now he is a hero but what sort to them? A ruthless sort were sometimes he must kill or a merciful benevolent one. Or even a man full of lose from losing a family member in war a loss no one should ever experience.
Looking away he says nothing to the Young Guardians or even Silver Star. But Phyrefrost yells at Esau, “Hey Testament get over here.” An unusual thing Esau does not go to Phyrefrost and responds, “Why should I? You already know me.” American Mom suddenly appears in front of him, “We need you to explain all the memories to them” Esau responds to American Mom, “Really why should I? They already seen my memories I wanted to keep to myself. I don’t discredit their abilities they are all able to surpass even I. Besides I am not a man to tell everything about myself….some of those memories I wanted to forget!!” Even though the power of American Mom is to calm down others, Esau’s rage is taking the best of him at the moment.
As Esau seems to get angrier and angrier he looks at them. Aria then says, “Calm down Esau…. Control your emotions.” Esau then yells in anger, “All of you are Gods in this land. You oppress us and become corrupt for your evil ways. I had to fight alone in an entire area in the city that needed to be defended the most as you fought for the men on the white horse and for those who fit your needs. I fought were no one wanted to. I never had seen any of you here!!!! Only the few men and woman who was non Meta human who wanted to battle the enemy. But I was the only stability.” He looks at them and sees the rage in the once gentle eyes.
He looks at them and American Mom looks at them as a mother-figure, “In your area I don’t understand what you had to live through in the South Side hero work and even Phyrefrost doesn't see the intensity in your work you go through daily. But as a hero I understand the sacrifice that I make daily to save people’s lives no matter what area.” Aria seems to look at the eyes of Esau once pure now a tainted red of anger. Phyrefrost then looks at Esau as his mistress, “Esau we are survivors like you in many instances. From what we seen in the videos you are lucky to survive many things but maybe it is God keeping you alive. Don’t let rage take you away from your path.”
Aria stays quiet as she sees the aura of Esau. He has many psychological wounds many from the memories of his family line and others from what he has experienced. Even to Aria it is way too overwhelming. A normal man like him would've broken for what he experienced in life and fighting in the South Side. But she feels his will to fight on. A powerful will to fight. This rage does not show it. American Mom though through instinct can feel that Esau is weak right now but the strength of his perseverance makes him. As a mother like person she hugs him, “Esau it’s alright Esau….. Don’t be afraid of us….. Harm is a part of life…you will not be abandoned by us…don’t keep the burden to yourself.” Esau then looks at them, “You don’t understand my Mom and Dad are dead and no hero saved them. My mother died fighting against the enemy and my father died saving the earth. Yet no hero left a sorry note or consoled our family it left us to die and only another one of us to take his place.”
Aria then thinks about the machine of what it done. It brought too much out; a normal mind can only handle a single memory being brought out. All the chemicals and electrical sensors used to bring out emotion and memory took too much of a toll for a human mind. But she thought that a person who wanted to be a hero would want to see everything and it would not do much damage, well not by the brain anyway. But emotionally…… to see trauma play out is horrid even if a good memory appears in the middle. Esau then pulls himself away from American Mom and says, “You don’t care…… you used me to find out what that machine can do…as everyone else wanted to do…I am no toy. I am with you guys since I need to learn. You guys are not on the ground anymore. You are all jaded of fighting on dirty ground.”
Esau walks away as the machine that had hardly been tested had taken a toll on him emotionally and the weight of many difficult memories are pounding him in the head. He can’t yell or anything. Only think of a memory were he feels secure and away from the memory seeking machine. It is of the time his Mom, Dad, Brother, and himself together where they are driving together to home the Navajo nation. A radio was on with a random rock song. He seems to almost collapse on the doorstep leading out the Guardian steps. There alone as if a dog was preparing to die. Esau feels a sort of mortality he is used to seeing.
The Young Guardians had seen the times when Esau was at his best, the times he was at his worst, and finally the time when he was weakest and fearful. Now Esau does not want to complain but his body is frozen now he can’t move. That machine did something to him. He is unable to move. Now in a paralyzed state and alone, maybe the forgotten him…well it is suitable to forget about Esau the mortal little man. As in the South Side any many can die like a dog and no one would even give a rat’s ass. He tries to breathe now as he tries to gain control of himself. He won’t die like a dog. Despite the energy against him he lifts himself off from the ground though this was not super an anyway it takes a superhuman effort to rise up. As he gets up he stands in the Moon. As he looks up…he chants the blessing way. But he has not given up on the Young Guardians. With his own might he frees himself of his motionlessness.
As he enters the base again the Young Guardians all look at Esau as a comrade and with some sort of concern. How can they not feel about him? The machine had caused him to go momentarily insane with hurt and fear. For now Esau says nothing as he walks past everyone and to his room he then falls down and falls asleep with total exhaustion. As he wakes up from after a few hours Aria appears beside him, “Are you alright Esau?” Esau wakes up now his head hurts as he holds his head. He seems calm and collected.
Looking at Aria, Esau says, “Forgive me I was not myself…. I didn’t mean to act out like that…. That machine screwed with my mind.” He looks at them with a full amount of regret. He Looking around he has a weapon nearby. This time it is not a normal weapon he was usually carry an ‘antique’ Mauser 1898 Columbian bolt action rifle but seems to be chambered in 30-06, the same he used in the memory against the Hit team. Aria takes a look at that weapon and notices it was used not by Esau but many generations of people fighting on others. This was some of the truest war weapons she had ever seen and now with Esau the weapon carries on fighting as she observes the name scratched up weapon has a name inscribed, “Sin Misericordia” or bluntly in English “Without Mercy.”
Esau then sighs as he opens the bolt in his rifle and puts a clip in it then puts it on safety. Aria then sighs, “Well Esau….. It was a mistake in the machine… a malfunction. It was only supposed to go through your own memories and allow you to pick them. It was not meant to go through the memories of the past…. in theory anyway.” Esau seems to then laugh, “Heh heh…. a theory? What a hell of a way to test it out though.” He seems to he then seems to then look at Aria and asks, “Why me first of all people?” She then sighs, “Well….” Then another more powerful woman appears it is Phyrefrost, “Since you are far more experienced than many of the Young Guardians. Your insight of what you seen would be valuable for understanding a part of the hero business they would not see often, the street hero work.” With another sigh she looks away from him, “But I never did expect a malfunction in the machine normally one of our contractors would have got this set up already. It seems to need more testing…besides Esau maybe you are the perfect test dummy for it since it says you have a very strong mind.” She has a smile.
But then another demanding voice is heard, “Still it was not right either.” American Mom appears and looks at Esau as if she were a mother like figure. “Esau you have a lot in your mind don’t ya kid? After taking a look at what you have been through it is very dark to a lot of the other Young Guardians. But I also worry about the stories of your liberal stance on taking things on your own hands. I am now more curious things about what you done in the South Side; did you really grow up there?” Esau looks at her and smiles, “Well if you want to know, I grew up in the South Side especially in Tall Tree of the Native part of the city. I seen people there get mugged in the streets and no one cared and other parts I seen them murdered. There I learned that some things you oughta do the dirtiest thing to do the greater good. I made deals that would not have been considered honorable and hell I probably do mistakes on the way I shouldn’t.” He looks at them calmly but a bit away from American Mom, which she understands as a sign of respect. She then pats Esau on the head, “Well seems that you don’t want to talk now squirt but I will get you talking anyway. Besides I have people I can ask. Besides Esau if you have problems don’t be afraid to tell others, it’s healthy for you and please stop being such a sour puss.” As she looks next to Esau she sees something almost like three figures with vaguely human shapes. But she does not say anything only smiles, “Well shorts stuff I want you to do something for me. Talk to Aria at least once a day about the past she’s the counselor you know or if you don’t want to talk to her we can set up a meeting with a priest or medicine man of your own tribe. Trust me none are really hard to find.”
Esau smiles as they all get up and leave. As they leave Esau face changes from a face of calm and almost distress. Whatever that machine was caused a lot of distress in his heart. But it is only the past and he must deal with it. Unbeknownst to Esau what he has is a gift and a curse. For all the first born siblings of his family has the ability it is to have the memories of his entire family in one mind. It is a burdensome gift which many don’t know they have….but it also gives them the skills and knowledge of his forefathers if they bother to learn it even more. But all the memories are so haunting at times in the past he had deduced them as nightmares. But when blended with his own…..it all becomes so real. For now he must calm down and now deal with the memories on his own. He brings out a book of prayer and asks for deliverance from his trouble. He prays now that the memories would be healed and the trouble would gracefully go away. For they haunt his so much. It would be understand for many to understand.
Who will stand by his side in such a painful journey? His family of course but alas it is his own personal journey no one should have known about. But it leaked out for all to see in the machine, only God the father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit will help him through the trouble that had harmed him and now friends. But as he tries to close his eyes from his troubled heart a knock of the door is heard in his room. Esau rises from his bed and opens the door. It is Silver Star or Sara an American Indian Calamarian girl who is Esau’s girlfriend. She says in a worried voice, “You scared me you idiot.” Esau only replies, “I am sorry I did that.” Sara has a smile as Esau closes the door for only both of them to experience a time together. As thy sit on the bed Sara does a playful punch, “Ever do that again I will kick your ass.” Esau has a good laugh, “Oooh…. I am scared.” She then hugs Esau in a gentle and caring way, “You know you can talk to me I will never tell anyone. Besides I wanted to tell you something Esau. I love you.” Esau smiles as a tear falls down his face as he hears those few comforting words. He does not cry per say or whimper but calmly says, “Thanks Silvy.”
As they look at each they kiss each other in a tender and loving way as all lovers should. Esau does two clicks to turn off the light. In which the dark covers the lovers on the bed for now.
